I just wanna point out a few things. I know you're all busy with whatever you're responsible for within the project so I'll keep it as brief as possible.
We had a 8-9 hour maintenance yesterday with 0 warning beforehand and 0 messages informing us of what happened during that time or what has changed. Nothing new on the news page or launcher or even status page (besides the tag of "resolved" to the last news)
I know that one of the last announcements on discord was about a big "major" patch fixing a bunch of stuff and making the server whole again but no indication of an approximate eta for this. Where should we look out for this kind of information moving forward?
Right now it seems the status page is showing "everytthing operational" but I've been stuck on Logging into game server for the last hour. Again no info anywhere on site.
At least when we had discord someone would pop in and post a reply that you're working on a fix for whatever reason the server wasn't up, but now we have nothing.
It feels alot like communication has gotten worse not better with the removal of discord. Or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong space?
In the interest of moving forward not backward. Where should we be looking for updates on the server status? Maybe get a thread going (somewhere read only to avoid spam from dumbos) where someone from your team can keep us in the loop regularly with these unscheduled maintenance windows and such other stuff?

I second this. Not going into the ridiculousness of removing DS entirely, you have your reasons I suppose.
But regarding yesterday, in between the announcement of DS closing and the re-opening of the server, the only piece of information we had was the cryptic maintenance message, saying "Maintenance in X hours", and the info that the server was down. No ETA, no clear "server will be down from around x to y", meaning we could only guess that the "in x hours" meant the server would be back up, which it kind of was, for a short while.
In addition to telling us where we can look, perhaps have a global announcement method ? The website seems advanced enough, maybe push notifications, a sticky below-header banner / screen corner info panel could be displayed if you're logged in onto the website, so we can easily know the latest news ? At the very least improving upon the maintenance message contents or having more of them is kind of necessary so that we better understand what is going on.
Likewise, the changelog is extremely empty, the latest message there dates from the 18th of may, and there were definitely a lot of changes done since then. If we are to remove Discord, you need to keep us up to date with what's happening, what bugs are resolved or being worked on, etc.
As expected, the removal of DS has removed the main communication channel between you (the devs) and us (the players). I understand you cannot be expected to to be productive resolving bugs while addressing every message and snarky comment like you did (especially as a small team), but being "in the dark" regarding server info and status when it has issues (and considering it currently still has a lot of those) is a big problem.

Yea I expected the discord server deletion to just be stealth server vanishing completely and avoiding the conversations or awkwardness by just removing discord first.
Best of luck to the staff and any players who stick around but it seems to be slow moving or stagnated completely, maybe check it out in a few months again if it rears its head back up in a better status.

Greetings.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We genuinely appreciate your patience and input, and we absolutely support the idea of improving our communication moving forward. To address your points and provide some clarity on how things work behind the scenes, weโd like to share a few core realities we are currently managing:
1. Unscheduled Maintenances & "Missing" ETAs
While we always want to give advance notice, the sudden downtimes you are experiencing are a direct result of the server progressing. As players push further into the game, new, unpredictable issues inevitably come to light. When a critical issue surfaces, we have a choice: leave the server up and let it crash repeatedly, or take it down immediately for maintenance to prevent permanent damage or endless instability.
Because these critical bugs are impossible to predict, fixing them is often a dynamic process. It is practically impossible to provide an accurate (or even approximate) ETA because a bug can behave completely unpredictably once we start working on it.
2. Changelogs, Resources, and Priorities
We hear you regarding the need for consistent update notes and patch announcements. We want to do this, and we actually plan to create dedicated forum announcements for every update. However, our current human resources are very limited. We have to ruthlessly prioritize, and right now, our absolute top priority is ensuring you have a stable and comfortable gameplay experience. Writing extensive logs takes time away from fixing actual bugs. That being said, we are gathering this information, and it will be published as soon as we can manage.
3. Server Status & The Current Reality
To put your mind at ease: if you ever see the server is down, regardless of whether there is an announcement yet, we are already actively working on a fix.
The server is not going anywhere, and our work hasn't stopped or even slowed down. In fact, quite the opposite - we are currently hiring new people, fixing critical core issues, and the server is now capable of maintaining much higher uptime. We are also actively developing the major update mentioned previously. Please do not feed into or spread rumors about any kind of closure; we are here for the long haul.
4. And Discord, of course..
We understand that Discord felt convenient for instant updates, but effective communication needs to work both ways. With our limited resources, Discord became overwhelming and unstructured. Moving communication to our official platform (like this forum) allows us to structure dialogues properly. In the long run, this transition will actually relieve pressure on our team, allowing us to stay better connected with the community without sacrificing development time.
We are working hard to find that right balance, and we thank you for sticking with us as we iron out these growing pains.
Best regards,
WarCrown Team
