WarCrown on Linux v2 (updated guide) Faugus Launcher
Guides & Tutorials
How to get WarCrown running smoothly using the Faugus Launcher. I needed to reinstall the game and decided to rewrite my previous guide with my preferred game launcher now that I understand all the steps.
Open Faugus Launcher and click the i[/i] button to add a new game.
Title: Name your prefix. For example: WarCrown.
Path Selector: Select the game installer from your downloads folder.
Runner: Select Proton. I highly recommend using GE-Proton10-34.
Navigate over to the Tools tab and open Winetricks.
Install the following packages: vcrun2022, dotnetdesktop8, and dotnet48.
Still in the Tools tab, open Winecfg.
Go to the Libraries tab.
Under "New override for library", type in quartz and click Add.
By default, leave this assigned to "Native, Builtin".
Run the "game" in Faugus Launcher to launch the setup wizard.
Allow the game to fully install before moving on.
Once completed, you must change the game path in Faugus Launcher to point to the actual game launcher instead of the installer.
Update your path to look something like this (replace with your actual username): /home/yourusername/Faugus/warcrown/drive_c/Program Files/WarCrown Launcher/WarCrown Launcher.exe
Locate your installation folder and rename or delete d3d12.dll to prevent launch crashes.
Step 1: Create the Game Prefix
Open Faugus Launcher and click the i[/i] button to add a new game.
Title: Name your prefix. For example: WarCrown.
Path Selector: Select the game installer from your downloads folder.
Runner: Select Proton. I highly recommend using GE-Proton10-34.
Step 2: Install Required Dependencies
Note: If you skip this step, you will likely encounter a ton of errors during installation due to missing 32-bit components.
Navigate over to the Tools tab and open Winetricks.
Install the following packages: vcrun2022, dotnetdesktop8, and dotnet48.
Step 3: Configure Winecfg (Quartz Override)
Still in the Tools tab, open Winecfg.
Go to the Libraries tab.
Under "New override for library", type in quartz and click Add.
By default, leave this assigned to "Native, Builtin".
Step 4: Run the Installer
Run the "game" in Faugus Launcher to launch the setup wizard.
Allow the game to fully install before moving on.
Step 5: Update Executable Path and DLL Fix
Once completed, you must change the game path in Faugus Launcher to point to the actual game launcher instead of the installer.
Update your path to look something like this (replace with your actual username): /home/yourusername/Faugus/warcrown/drive_c/Program Files/WarCrown Launcher/WarCrown Launcher.exe
Locate your installation folder and rename or delete d3d12.dll to prevent launch crashes.
