How to Format a Guide

These are conventions, not rules — but guides that follow them are easier to read, easier to update, and more likely to get linked from a future Guide Index.

Title

Lead with the topic, end with the version where it matters. Examples:
 • Frost Mage PvE Rotation — 3.3.5a
 • Naxxramas 10-Man Strategy Guide
 • Goldmaking with Inscription

Structure

 • Open with a one-paragraph summary — what the guide covers and who it's for
 • Use
for section headings
 • Use
for steps, abilities, and items
 • Quote tooltips and patch notes with
Screenshots

Use

. Host on Imgur or another reliable image host — links to your local files won't work for anyone but you.

Updating your guide

You can edit your own posts. When you make a meaningful update, edit the title to bump the version (e.g. add — Updated 2026-04). Don't post a brand-new thread for an update; reply to your own thread or edit the first post.

Tagging

Use forum tags so people can filter — class, role, content tier. Tags matter more than fancy formatting for discoverability.
